What did I learn this week?

Moving steadily towards “the” date

So, if I go to my due date I have a little less than 2 weeks to go to June 22.  Despite early dilation and the continued mild cramping (ie continued slow dilation), I don’t feel like anything is imminent.  And that suits me fine.  True, I do have some difficulty and discomfort turning over at night and getting out of bed, but really, I am feeling pretty good overall.  As such, it is funny to me how many people in the last week said that they assume I can’t wait to get it over with, and say they wish for me that the baby comes early.  Today, Corey’s mom just looked at me and said, “well, just remember that you’ll never have to do this again!”

I asked my mom a few days ago whether I looked really bad or something and if that was why people keep saying things like this.  She assured me that I looked fine, just not as “light on your feet” as usual.  That is fair.  I certainly don’t feel light on my feet, but, I also don’t feel like I can’t wait for this all to be over.  I am content to wait for as long or as short a time as is left, although I am looking forward to meeting this new person who is part of our family.

I am still hoping for calm, but I’ll be happy no matter what.

  1. I’m with you! I was nine days overdue with Amy, and I was quite happy to have the extra time.

Although I have to admit that once she arrived I was very thankful to not have to get up fifty million times during the night to pee…

Welcome to the blogosphere, J, can’t wait to read more!
